Michael Killian, Ph.D.
Dr. Michael Killian is an Associate Professor in the College of Social Work with a courtesy appointment as a Professor in the College of Medicine. His research mainly focuses on pediatric organ transplant social work and improving outcomes in childhood. He has made several accomplishments recently through his work.
He co-authored three articles one of which was in collaboration with Mia Liza Lustria of the College of Communication and Information and published by Pediatric Transplantation. He has also received a $1,676,0046 Small Business Innovation Research Grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to fund his project “Mobile Video Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) for Immunosuppression Medication Adherence in Adolescent Heart Transplant Recipients in Florida: Enhancing Technological Innovation and Strengthening the Role of Small Businesses in Meeting Needs of Adolescent Organ Transplant Recipients.”
Lastly, he was named co-director of the Initiative for the Advancement of Pediatric Transplant Health Research along with Dr. Dipankar Gupta of the UF Health Congenital Heart Center. Together, they aim to improve the quality of life for patients following transplant procedures.
